ECO School

Net-Zero Construction

Morgan Sindall, April 2024

The design of Prestley Wood Academy has been determined through extensive engagement with Cambridgeshire County Council and Horizons Education Trust, to provide a facility which responds both to the Council’s net-zero agenda, and the Trust’s ambition to go beyond expectations and make a difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

"The latest scheme embraces the County Council’s emerging policy regarding the ‘Nearly Zero’ energy agenda. The Council is calling on Government, industry and regulators to implement the necessary changes to enable Cambridgeshire and the rest of the UK to reach net-zero carbon by 2030."

ECO School

In alignment with our companion Academy, Spring Common Academy, under the Horizon Education Trust umbrella, we aim to pursue the ECO School Kitemark in year 1.

"The Eco-Schools programme provides a simple, seven-step framework that answers this question whilst empowering young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond. Since 1994, millions of young people around the world have worked through the Eco-Schools Seven Steps before being recognised for their efforts with a prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag."
