  • Develop a lifelong love of learning by guiding our pupils on a sequential, challenging and balanced curriculum journey using engaging methodologies adapted to individual need.

  • Commit to continually evolving our SEND practice and that of our local community by sharing innovative, research-based approaches to have a lasting positive impact.

  • Listen and respond to the voices of our learners and their families, so they are instrumental in steering the direction of their school as it grows.

  • Respect and value the knowledge and experience of all members of our community.

  • Understand how to design and maintain environments which respond to individual need and enable regulation, communication and learning behaviours to flourish.

  • Promote spiritual, moral and cultural understanding in preparation for adult life in 21st century society.

  • Focus on developing pupil’s functional life skills to become as happy, healthy and independent as possible.

  • Support our pupils over time to develop personal and emotional resilience and character in order to maintain respectful fulfilling relationships as an adult

  • Ensure inclusive and equitable learning experiences where everyone feels safe, understood and happy in their school community.

  • Celebrate difference so that all our learners develop an intrinsic sense of worth and the self belief to embrace new experiences.

  • Adapt extra-curricular opportunities, so our learners can practice meaningful participation and contribution to their community, experience the world of work and move toward becoming actively involved in public life in adulthood.

Our high quality practice is driven by the individual pupil’s EHC Plan.

We welcome parental, carer and professional partner engagement and feedback.

Our success is measured by our learner’s success.

Our Values

At Prestley Wood Academy, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued. As a result, our values will be created by our pupils, and upheld by our School Council.

Our commitment to pupil-led values ensures that the perspectives and experiences of our students are at the forefront of shaping our school culture. Through active participation in our School Council, students will have the opportunity to define the principles and beliefs that guide our community.
